This is the season for pumpkins, apples, fall-colored leaves, and the feel of the crisp cool air being a welcomed guest.
Also, this begins the harvest season. Seed time and harvest will continue to be around forever. Without it, we have no apples, pumpkins, fruits, or vegetables.
I remember very vividly heading to the country in the Fall season to visit my grandparents on the farm. It was always so much fun. There were apple orchards and huge pumpkin patches.
Grandpa would load us up in the hay wagon and take us to the
school. There it was all pumpkin carvings, food, fun, and prizes. I really enjoyed the apple butter contest too. The prize winner drew a name to give a nice jar of the flavored apple butter. I always wanted them to draw my name. I never won that jar of apple butter. That was alright. Grampa let us pick out the best apple dessert. Mostly, we agreed on the fresh apple cake. We would drive back to the farm just before dark.
I can still recall how the family set together eating that apple cake and drinking cold milk, laughing, and talking about the harvest day.
Memories are something we can share and they are a way to remember those we love.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 For everything there is a season.
During this Fall let us pray and ask the Lord for this season to be our time of planting seeds. Then, next year we can look back and see how our crop was harvested. Also, it will be the making of new memories and traditions with family and friends.
Prayerfully,
